The institute was founded in 1974 and is committed to interpreting and communicating the Christian faith in the context of Indian culture for strengthening the life and witness of the Churches in India. For this task TRACI promotes creative research, holds seminars and workshops, uses the mass media, radio, TV and films and also prepares and publishes Christian literature. Two of their monthly publications are "Challenges to Faith in Asia" and the "Christian Mind Series". Their organisation is nondemominational and they welcome other Christians to join with their talents and resources in following the Lord's calling to service.
